Bobs with Texture
August 18, 2008 by tracy · Leave a Comment
It looks like this fall celebrities in Hollywood are getting bob haircuts that touch the nape of their neck and then are applying great texture to them. These slightly longer bobs are perfect for adding soft waves in with a hair curling irons. Hold your curling iron vertically and wrap small sections around them to curl for about five seconds. Once you get the curl in shake your head out and your long bob will have great texture and style just like you have a expensive hair dresser to give you the hottest looks.

A Chignon sits lower on the head than a basic bun so be sure to focus on the nape of your neck as you style.
- Towel-dry your hair and apply a loonie-sixed dollop of mousse evenly throughout to add texture and volume.
- Blow-dry with a round brush to add bounce and then set with hot rollers or a curling iron. Concentrate curls on the bottom half of your hair,-keep the roots and crown smooth and use a hair straightener for your bang area.
- Let hair cool and professional hair brush to bring out the shine.
- Secure hair in a low ponytail at the nape of the neck, swept off to one side. Leave a one-inch-wide piece stray and wrap it around the hair elastic to conceal it. Secure with a bobby pin.
- To add more texture, backcomb the ponytail. Don’t be afraid of your bun being too messy, this will be the beauty of it-it doesn’t have to look perfect.
- Pin the hair under in small sections to create the chignon. Don’t go crazy with the hairspray. Instead, make sure it will stay put by anchoring the base with enough bobby pins.
Till Next time Good Luck,

With Summer just around the corner perhaps it’s time to start thinking about a new hairstyle. If you saw my post on 2008 Spring Hairstyles then preparing for Summer will be easy as the Hot Hairstyle’s for Spring are hot for summer as well, with some minor adjustments.
The Angled Bob - think edgy, strong outlines and asymmetrical. Try one side longer than the other or start short in the back and go longer as you reach the front. A bob can be worn straight, wavy, curly or messy for an ultra sexy look.

Casual Layers - long, natural layers which add texture and movement. This style can also be worn straight, curly, wavy or messy making it an extremely versatile hairstyle.

Fringe - Bangs are a great way to make a simple change to any hairstyle. You want to choose a style which best suits your features so work with your stylist to determine which bangs will look best on you. The hot looks for summer include side swept bangs, blunt, choppy and soft and wispy.

For super straight hair flat iron it, a hair straightener is also perfect for the blunt bang styles above.

The Crop - Short and sexy with movement and volume is hot this Summer Season. Stay clear of the solid crop and work with your hairs texture for a natural flow with texture.

A short hairstyle can be a bold statement and is also a style that can not necessarily be pulled off by just anyone. If you decide to go with short hair your biggest challenge can be keeping it feminine.
Don’t get me wrong, short hair is a popular hairstyle for 2008 and with the right style you can create a look that is feminine, sassy and stylish. Short hair can still be somewhat versitile depending on how short you go. You can go with really short hair and play with the texture, or short and curly, wavy or short and straight.
Popular short hairstyles for 2008 include The Bob and short, blunt hair styles. I included some great pictures of short hair styles that can help you see that short can be flirty and feminine!
*Style Tip - For sleek, straight and shiny hair you can use a 1″ hair straightener. A hair iron with 1″ plates is ideal for short hair as well as layered hair and bangs.

Long Hairstyles

Long hair can be extremely feminine, versatile, flirty and is often admired. The only down side to long hairstyles, and I speak from experience, is the maintenance. If you choose to go with long hair get a hair cut that works best with your hairs texture to help minimize the amount of time it takes to style it. With any cut it also best to get a style to suit your face shape and features.
Long hair looks great with layers, and you can style hair straight, wear it curly or make it wavy. For those of you with super straight hair, the longer it is the harder it can be to keep a curl in your hair. However, with the right tools and styling products, you can curl straight hair and have it hold.
Here are some great pictures of Popular Straight Hairstyles for 2008-
