Hair Dryers: The Most Important Tool

December 31, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

There is always one thing in the bathroom that everyone takes for granted. That one hair tool that never gets any thought. The hair dryer. It is very unfortunate that this essential tool doesn’t get the respect that it deserves, after all it is probably the most frequently used hair tool in the bathroom. It really should get some more attention.

So are you one of those people guilty of not giving your due respect to your hair dryer? Chances are good that you are. Take a good look at your hair dryer, and if you’ve had the same one for over five years, or it seems like it takes you forever to dry your hair, you should probably consider upgrading.

Many people will say, “It’s just a hair dryer, any one will do. I’ll save my money for a hair straightener or curling iron.” But this is a bad attitude, and you aren’t doing yourself or your hair any favors by ignoring your hair dryer.

Investing in a quality hair dryer is not only an investment in yourself, but it’s an excellent investment in your hair. Think about this, if you are applying direct heat to your hair everyday, that heat is going to start doing damage to your hair, drying it out, making it frizzy and dull looking as all of the natural moisture and oils are stripped from your hair. And who wants that to happen to their hair? No one. That’s why you need to invest in an ionic hair dryer that will dry your hair effectively, without all of the damage. It is not a given that you have to damage your hair when you dry it. Not at all.

An ionic hair dryer takes advantage of negative ions that are blasted onto each hair, infusing them. The negative ions act on each hair to close the cuticle, effectively sealing in moisture and natural oils. Because the hair cuticle is being closed, each hair will lay flat on the head instead of standing up which gives that frizzy, out of control look.

Another amazing feature of an ionic hair dryer is that using one actually cuts the drying time in half. Some ionic hair dryers actually dry hair up to 60% faster than a regular hair dryer. That not only means that your hair isn’t being exposed to damaging heat as long, but also that you spend less time drying your hair, and more time styling it. Getting you out of the bathroom quicker and on to your day.

When you are looking for a hair dryer, be sure to choose one that uses ionic technology and incorporates ceramic elements into the construction. It is time that you start paying attention to the most undervalued hair tool of all time. A quality hair dryer is an essential tool in any hair care arsenal and you will be pleasantly surprised to see the amazing results it will have on your hair.

You Deserve a Professional Quality Hair Iron at Home

December 19, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

When you leave the hair salon your newly straightened hair is probably shiny, sleek and amazing. But why is it that you cannot recreate that look with your own hair straightener? Ask yourself, what kind of hair straightener do you have at home? Do you have a cheap, drug store hair iron that doesn’t give you the results that you would like? Far too many women use a cheap hair iron that doesn’t do a good job straightening hair, and worse can actually damage the hair.

When it comes to hair straighteners, it’s very important that you choose a quality hair iron that will not damage your hair because straight hair isn’t very good if you’re breaking it and damaging it in the process.

When you are looking for a good hair iron, there are a few things that you have to look for. First, choose an iron that uses ceramic or titanium plates. Titanium hair irons generally combine the titanium with ceramic in order to get the best benefits. Ceramic hair straighteners are known for its amazing heat retention which means that it you don’t have to worry about any hot spots forming on the iron which could potentially burn your hair. Ceramic is the best material for maintaining heat so as well as not getting hot spots, you don’t have to worry about waiting for the iron to heat up between passes on your hair, so it’s fast and easy to use. Quality hair irons have heat sensors that sense the temperature a few times a second, which helps to regulate and keep the temperature constant.

Titanium plates on a hair straightener are very nice to use because they are as smooth as glass, so your hair simply slides along them. And these plates are as tough as steel, but extremely light so the iron is nice and easy to handle.

Another quality to look for in a professional grade hair straightener is the presence of tourmaline. Tourmaline is a naturally occurring mineral that has been discovered to be a natural source of negative ions. Negative ions penetrate each hair every time a tourmaline hair iron is passed through the hair, infusing each and every hair so that these hairs retain their moisture and lock in the natural color. Because tourmaline locks in the moisture and natural oils, your hair will look extremely healthy and naturally shiny, which is something a cheap hair iron can not do.

Professional quality hair straighteners will cost you slightly more than their cheaper counterparts that you can find in any drugstore, or Wal-Mart. But the difference in price is absolutely justifiable when you compare the difference that each iron makes to your hair. Cheaper irons may burn your hair, tear and pull it. They will not give you the results of smooth and shiny hair. Instead your hair will be standing up, frizzy, dried out, possibly torn and broken and maybe not even all that straight. It seems like an easy decision. When you want quality results, and beautiful hair – choose a professional hair straightener for your own personal use. There is absolutely no reason that your hair can’t look salon good every day.

December 12, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

If you haven’t used a hair straightener in a while, you probably have not been so lucky as to experience a quality hair straightener that will actually improve the look of your hair. Too many women who tried hair straighteners years ago were turned off by the way that they made their hair look, and have not tried them since. But you don’t need to worry. There are hair straighteners that don’t damage hair. You can have beautifully straight and sexy hair without all of the damage.

When you look for hair straighteners that don’t damage hair, you need to look for an iron that uses ceramic or titanium plates instead of glass or metal plates like some irons. The glass or metal is often painted which can chip off and tear at the hair, pulling or snagging. These cheaper hair irons will also often burn the hair because the glass and metal do not heat up evenly and can create hot spots that will burn or singe the hair as you straighten.

Ceramic and titanium plates are smooth and provide a constant heat that will not burn your hair. Ceramic actually provides a moist heat that will help your hair retain its natural moisture keeping it looking healthy. Ceramic plates are known for maintaining a constant heat, so you don’t have to worry about your hair iron heating up to an extremely high temperature that will burn your hair.

Another feature for hair straighteners that will not damage your hair is too look for an iron with tourmaline in it. Tourmaline is a natural element that generates negative ions. The negative ions infuse each individual hair and seal in the natural oils and moisture so that your hair will not dry out or get that frizzy, damaged appearance. The negative ions actually cause your hair cuticles to lay down flat on your hair so your hair looks even sleeker then it normally would. In fact, a hair straightener that contains tourmaline will actually improve the look of your hair and it is safe enough to use every day without fear of damaging your hair.

One of the newest features for hair straighteners is the addition of silver technology. Silver has long been known to be a natural antibacterial agent and now you can find it added to hair straighteners. With the addition of silver technology, the hair iron will actually kill any bacteria and germs that are on your hair, which will keep your hair looking its best and healthier than ever before.

If you are worried about a hair iron hurting your hair, stop worrying. There are so many high quality hair straighteners that don’t damage hair on the market today that there is nothing to be scared of. You can now have beautifully straight hair that has never looked healthier, shiner and smoother before, all from a hair straightener. If it’s been awhile since you have given a hair straightener a try, don’t be scared, you will be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Hair Straightening Tips

December 11, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

If you’re new to hair straightening, or even if you have been using your hair iron for awhile, it’s a good idea to brush up on a few basic skills. There are a few things that will help you make the most of your hair iron and keep your hair looking it’s best all of the time.

-         When you’re straightening your hair it is crucial that you start with dry hair. Don’t try to save time by trying to straighten damp hair. Take the time to dry your hair with a quality hair dryer before you begin straightening. You will damage your hair if you try to use your hair iron on wet or damp hair, it may burn and you will strip it from essential moisture that is needed to keep it looking its best. Unless you have a wet to dry hair straightener, in which case it is fine to use on damp hair. But be sure what type of iron you have before you try this.

-         Keep your hair straightener clean and in good repair. This sounds like a basic tip, however it is surprising how many people do not take the time to clean their hair straightener and store it properly. All that is required is to wipe down the plates of the straightener with a soft cloth that has been dampened with rubbing alcohol. If you do this every few days, or once a week, your hair straightener will stay clean and free from build up. Also, take the time to be sure that your cord is not pinched or tangled which can damage the power supply to the iron.

-         When you are straightening your hair, work in sections. Don’t try to save time by doing large clumps of hair at a time. Section your hair working from the bottom to the top of your hair. Depending on how thick your hair is, you may find it easier to work in small sections. If you want to create tendrils, or curls with your iron, small sections are definitely the way to go. Use clips to keep the hair out of the way and tangle free.

-         Use a straightening serum or thermal protector on your hair before straightening. This is a product that is designed to protect your hair from the heat of hair tools and it will help lock in moisture and seal in the natural oils that your hair needs to look its best. Even when you are using a high quality hair iron, it is beneficial to use a thermal protector on your hair.

-         When you are straightening your hair, be sure that you don’t squeeze too tightly because this will pull and tear at your hair and with a high quality hair straightener, there is no need to push too hard, just a firm constant pressure will do.

So there they are, the best hair straightening tips to get your hair looking straight, sleek and sexy.

What the Pros Use

December 5, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

When you walk into the hair salon, all of the hair stylists have their stations set up with the various tools of the trade, and cords running everywhere. But what hair tools do they have on those stations. No one usually gives it much thought, you simply sit in the chair, let your stylist get down to business and leave with a beautiful head of hair. But there are many things at work to get your hair looking that beautiful; not least of all are the tools that your stylist uses to create those stunning hair styles.

Taking a closer look at what is on those hair stations you will find a wide range of products, but there is one thing that every single hair stylist’s station has in common. They all use high quality hair tools. And you should expect nothing less from a hair stylist. If you walk into a salon and see a low quality metal plate hair straightener, run out of there fast!

So what does a hair stylist look for in a quality hair tool? That’s an excellent question, because obviously you want what the professionals use so you too can have stunning hair at home. Let’s start with the hair dryer. Hair stylists are usually in a hurry, they have a lot of clients to see and they need each one looking their best – quickly.

An ionic hair dryer is usually the dryer of choice because of the use of negative ions. Negative ions penetrate the hair shaft and dry the hair from the inside out, instead of the outside – in, like other hair dryers. The result is that hair dries quicker which means that stylists can move on to the next phase of styling faster and as an added bonus, your hair is exposed to the heat for a much shorter period, which means you won’t experience damage.

When it comes to hair straighteners, this is probably one of the most popular tools for most stylists right now so they need a high quality tool that will stand up to repetitive use and provide the best shine and finish to each clients hair.

The number one thing that stylists look for in a hair straightener is ceramic plates. Because many stylists leave their irons on for long periods, the ceramic plates will hold the heat, keeping the temperature consistent for the entire period. You don’t have to worry about the plates cooling off, or getting hot spots.

Another popular feature in hair straighteners right now is the use of silver or Nanosilver technology in the plates. This fairly new technology utilizes the power of natural antibacterial elements which actually fight the bacteria and germs that can collect on your hair straightener and your hair. This is perfect for a salon environment where tools are being used on multiple people.

Tourmaline is also a very popular feature for hair straighteners because the tourmaline infuses each hair, closing the cuticle and making the hair look shiny, healthy and beautiful. Which is ultimately what the hair stylist wants for each client.

So now that you know what the pros are using, what’s stopping you from enjoying the same benefits for your hair at home?

Don’t be Scared of Trying Hair Irons

December 4, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

If you have never used a hair straightener before it can be intimidating to look in the style magazines or leave the hair salon with a beautiful new style and wonder how you are going to recreate it. Some women are so terrified by hair tools that they simply never bother. And that’s not the right solution. Hair irons are not scary at all. And they are not hard to use. If you are a first time user, there are a few things you should keep in mind however when it comes to hair straighteners.

The first thing you should do is start with clean, dry hair. Do not make the mistake of trying to style your hair for the first time when it has not been cleaned. Some women get very excited when their brand new hair iron arrives, they tear it out of the box and get down to work styling only to harm their hair, which not only leaves them with damaged hair, it leaves them feeling discouraged and often that hair straightener will go into a drawer and never come out again. So try to control yourself and be sure your hair is clean, free of product and dry before you begin.

It is absolutely crucial that you choose a quality hair straightener. Do not make the mistake of thinking that you can get away with a cheap iron. You will regret your decision because your hair will look dry; it will become damaged and possibly even burnt. And more than that, you won’t even get the style you are looking for in the process.

Look for quality hair irons that are made of ceramic or titanium plates and preferably irons that have tourmaline. These hair irons will give you the best results because not only will your hair be easier to style, these irons actually help your hair look and feel healthier because of the addition of ceramic, titanium and tourmaline. Do not cheap out when it comes to hair tools; go for quality because you will not be disappointed.

Practice makes perfect, and that’s true for hair styling as well. Take your time trying out your new hair iron. Section your hair into manageable sections and starting at the bottom, clamp a section of hair between the plates, drawing it slowly downward until you get to the tips of the hair. Repeat with the next section and work your way around your head. It can be tricky to get used to styling the back of your head if you’ve never done it before, but a good trick is to work in very small sections and go slowly. It gets easier every time you do it and soon you will be a pro.

Keep it simple when you first start out. There are a lot of different styles that you can achieve with one hair iron. However, when you are first starting out, it’s best to keep it simple. Work on perfecting one style at a time. Soon you can add flips, bobs and curls. A quality hair straightener is a very versatile tool and you will be amazed at how easy it is to create a wide variety of beautiful styles. And you’ll surprise yourself because you’ll catch on quicker than you think and soon the hair straightener won’t seem so intimidating after all.

When it comes to looking your best, there is never a more important time to look hot with a styling hair do than at your yearly Christmas parties. And not only is it important to look your best with a fancy new dress, and some glam makeup, but you cannot forget about your hair. Because after all, you wouldn’t be looking and feeling so festive if your hair was doing the same old boring thing it did every year.

This Year Give the Gift of Style

December 1, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

The calendar says that it’s officially December, which means that Christmas is only a few weeks away. Have you finished all of your shopping yet? If you haven’t, you are not alone. Christmas can be an extremely stressful time trying to figure out what’s on everyone’s wish list. But if you have some extra special ladies on your list, I can make your holiday shopping a whole lot easier this year. All you have to do is give them the gift of style and beauty with some quality hair tools.

Giving quality hair tools like hair straighteners, curling irons and blow dryers are an excellent choice because you will be giving those special ladies a gift that they can use all year long, every single day. And in these tougher economic times, it’s a much better idea to give your friends and family something that they can use instead of another sweater, or Christmas decoration.

So when you start to shop for the perfect hair tool there are a few things you should keep in mind, especially if you are new to this. When it comes to hair straighteners, you want to look for a quality tool that will not only straighten the hair but will leave it looking healthier and more beautiful than before. You need to select an iron that uses ceramic or titanium plates because they will protect the hair and give it a beautiful shine. If you really want to spoil that special lady, a hair straightener with tourmaline is just the thing. Because not only will her hair be straight, it will actually be healthier due to the addition of tourmaline that infuses each hair with negative ions that close the hair cuticle locking in moisture and natural oils.

If it’s the gift of curls that you have decided to give, look for a curling iron that has a ceramic barrel. Ceramic provides a consistent heat that will not fluctuate which means that when your special lady is curling her hair she won’t have to worry about the curling iron losing heat or creating hot spots that might burn her hair. Tourmaline is another added benefit for a curling iron that will make hair look healthy and shiny, eliminating the dry damaged look that can occur with styling with a lesser product.

Blow dryers are also great gift choices, particularly when they cut down on the time it takes to dry your hair every morning. When you choose a quality hair dryer, look for one that utilizes ceramic coils which provide a moist heat causing hair to retain some of its natural moisture. Tourmaline is also an important addition because the negative ions actually dry the hair from the inside out which means that your lucky lady actually spends drying her hair everyday can be reduced by up to 60%. And that’s the gift of time.

So instead of another gift basket, or the latest best seller, give the ladies on your gift list the gift of beauty and style with some quality hair tools.

Simple Tips to Care for your Tools

November 27, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

Let’s face it; quality hair tools are not cheap. When you purchase a quality hair straightener, curling iron or hair dryer, you are making an investment in yourself, your style and your hair. And you have to remember that despite the initial cost, purchasing a good tool will actually save you money in the long run because you won’t have to replace it as frequently and it will do the job right making your hair look great.

Yet, it surprises me when I see how some people treat their expensive hair tools. If you have an investment of any kind, you should take care of it properly and nurture it right? It’s shocking to me to see people through their hair irons in a drawer, pinching the electrical cords or wrapping the cord around the hair dryer before putting it away. These are just a few of the awful things I see done to quality hair tools.

If you are going to spend the money buying yourself some excellent hair tools that are not only effective in styling your hair, but will help it stay healthy and look its best, why wouldn’t you treat those tools well? Of course everyone will have a reason for mistreating their tools, but the biggest excuse I see is that people honestly don’t realize that they are harming their tools.

It’s not hard to take care of your hair tools so that they will last, and I have a few simple hints and tricks for you to make it even easier to care for your straighteners, curling irons and blow dryers.

* Do not wrap the cords around the tool. This is probably one of the most common things that people do. When they are cleaning up the bathroom or packing for a trip, they will wrap the cord around and around the iron or hair dryer. Don’t do this. It will change the shape of the cord and may even permanently affect the cord shape. It also can kink or bend the wires inside the cord. Also, if your tool is still hot when you put it away you could melt the cord.

Instead of wrapping the cords around the tool, control the excess cord by collecting it and using a Velcro wrap to tie it up. This will keep it neat and tidy and will not damage the cord itself.

* Take care of the cords. Besides bundling the cord up nicely, be very careful when it comes to other hazards for the cord. One of the biggest culprits for damaging electrical cords is drawers. When you have all your hair tools out on the cupboard, and drawers are opening and shutting, it’s all too easy to get a cord shut in the drawer. This can pinch and even sever the cord making your tool useless.

Also be careful not to get more than one cord wrapped up around each other. This is a safety hazard as well as a risk for creating knots in the cords of hair tools.

* Keep your tools clean. This may go without saying, but if you keep your hair tools clean they will last much longer and give you quality performance for years. All you need to do is give your curling irons or hair straighteners a quick wipe down with a damp cloth when they are cool to remove any build up. If you have a bigger build up, use a bit of rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth. Check out our guide for cleaning your hair straightener. For hair dryers, clean the lint trap at the back of the dryer to keep it free from lint and build up. It is not hard to keep your quality hair tools working and looking their best. With minimal effort, your investment in a quality hair straightener, hair dryer or curling iron will last for years giving you beautiful, healthy looking hair.

Chemical Straighteners vs. Hair Straighteners

November 27, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

It’s inevitable; you want to change your hair style from time to time everyone does. But what if you have curly hair and you want to make it straight? You do have a few options available to you depending on what you are trying to achieve with your hair. Some people choose a chemical hair straightener over a hair iron because they think that straightening the hair permanently is the way to go. But what about the dangers of chemical hair straighteners? Is it safe?

Safety is definitely a concern when it comes to using a chemical hair straightener, because you are putting chemicals on your head and when there are chemicals involved there is always a concern for your health as well as your hair. Before any stylist uses a chemical hair straightener they should do a strand test. And why do you think they have to do a strand test? Well, because chemicals can cause harm, and by doing the strand test they are trying to determine how much damage will occur.

When you use chemicals on your hair they will almost certainly cause damage to your hair. And why would you want to damage your hair in the quest to create a beautiful style? That seems a bit backward. You should want to create a beautiful style, not a dry, damaged, frizzy style.

So what’s your other option? A hair straightener of course. One simple tool can straighten your hair safely, easily and not only will you be able to create the style you are looking for but your hair will look phenomenal as well. That’s because using a high quality hair straightener, one that utilizes the power of ceramic, titanium and tourmaline will actually improve the look of your hair. A quality hair straightener will infuse your hair with powerful negative ions that work to lock in the natural oils and shine in your hair cuticle allowing it to lay flat on your head. So not only will your hair be straight, it will be healthy, shiny and more beautiful than before. Forget the frizzy, over processed look.

Some people think that it will be easier and more convenient to use a chemical straightener. That way they can wake up every day and their hair will be straight without any effort. However, despite the risks to your health and the health of your hair, there are other issues involved with chemical straighteners. Your hair will require touch ups every few months, and the look is permanent. This means that if you decide that you want to wear your hair curly for a change, you’re out of luck.

And if you think that using a hair iron is not easy or fast, you are wrong! A quality hair straightener will straighten your hair out quickly and effectively which means that you can straighten your hair out every morning achieving the style that you want with minimal effort. And as an added benefit, your hair will be shiny, and healthy as well as sexy and sleek.

You do have choices when it comes to straightening your hair, but the only real choice for straightening your hair in a healthy way is a quality hair iron.
