Hair Extensions Are For Everyone

January 2, 2009 by Elena · Leave a Comment

Have you always wanted long, beautiful hair? It’s true that people usually want what they don’t have, and if you have short hair, you may often crave long luscious locks. Waiting for your hair to grow out is not a very good option. It will take years for your hair to grow out, and by the time your hair reaches the length that you want, you may have changed your mind and no longer want long hair. And more often than not, the hair will become damaged and unhealthy while you’re waiting for it to grow.

But there is an easier way. You can always opt for hair extensions as an easy alternative to create your beautiful look. Some women mistakenly think that hair extensions are only for the rich and famous or celebrities and that normal people shouldn’t or can’t have them. This is the totally wrong way to think. There is absolutely no reason that you shouldn’t have hair extensions if you want them.

Price is no longer the barrier that it used to be as hair extensions are much more affordable now than they used to be and there are many different options for all budgets. If you want to save even more money, you can have a friend put your extensions in for you instead of opting for an expensive salon. There are many different types of hair extensions that are simple enough for anyone to put in on their own.

One of the common misconceptions about hair extensions is that they look fake and everybody will know that you are wearing them. Well of course your close friends will know that you have hair extensions because overnight you will have much longer hair. But for others, no one will be any the wiser about your extensions because they are made very well now and do not look fake at all. There are a wide variety of colors to choose from, you will be able to match your hair type very closely for an excellent match. Choosing extensions made with human hair will also help to have them looking very natural and will make it easier for you to care for them as well and style them.

Hair extensions can be treated like your normal hair. You can wash them, and style them normally with your hair straightener, curling iron and hair dryer without fear of damaging your look. It is recommended that you take a bit more care in washing your hair, and use a gentle shampoo, avoiding the connections where they attach to your own hair, but other than that, you should be able to treat your hair as you normally would.

Don’t think that you have to wear your hair extremely long just because you have extensions. Many women are under the impression that they will have hair down to their rear end if tey get extensions and that’s not always true. If that’s the length that you want, than you can go right ahead, but otherwise you can cut your hair and have your stylist shape it however you would like.

Hair extensions are not just for the rich and famous anymore. With a wide variety available, anyone can have that long, gorgeous movie star look.

Create Celebrity Looks with Hair Extensions

It’s happened to almost everyone at some point. You’re flipping through a magazine when you come across a picture of a celebrity sporting a beautiful, flowing mane of hair. Sure, her hair is gorgeous but didn’t you just see a picture of her last week with much shorter hair? Is there some sort of magical shampoo that you can use to increase hair growth that quickly? How do they do it?

That’s easy. Those instant gorgeous flowing locks are achieved by using hair extensions. You may think that hair extensions make your hair look fake or over processed, but those were the extensions of the past. Hair extensions now have been designed to look more like real hair than ever before. And they’re also easier than ever to put in, so you no longer need to be a celebrity to enjoy the instant luscious look of long hair overnight.

There are a few different types of hair extensions; one of the easiest new types is the loop system. With these extensions, you simply thread your hair through the loop, much as you would if you were threading a needle and then you pull gently on the loop until the ends come off and the ring is close to the head. You simply crimp down on the ring to lock the extension in place, and you have instant hair. Of course you repeat the process adding extensions until you have achieved the desired look.

If you want to create your look by yourself, forget about the hair extensions that you have to glue or sew in and look for some easier alternatives. Besides the easy loop extensions, another popular type of hair extensions that are easy to use are the clip in extensions. These extensions come in sections that are easy to apply using clips. The clip in styles are also easy to remove so if you want to change your look more frequently, this is a good option for you.

When it comes to hair extensions you can treat them just as you would treat your regular hair. That means that you don’t have to be afraid to wash your hair, or style it. Yes, because they are made of 100% human hair, you don’t have to be afraid to blow dry your hair, or use hair straighteners on them. It is recommended however that you use quality hair styling tools when you style any hair, especially extensions. You want your hair extensions to last a long time and continue to look good, so using hair straighteners and hair dryers that are made from ceramic components and utilize tourmaline is a good idea.

Long beautiful hair is no longer only available to the rich or celebrity stars. Everyone can enjoy the amazing difference that hair extensions create. And with a wide variety of colors available, you can customize your look to be the perfect one for you. Hair extensions are completely style able, so your stylist can even cut them to add layers around your face, or any other look that suits you. The options are endless when you have long hair to play with.

Brush Browsing - Choosing the Right Brush for You

October 23, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment

When you open your hair styling drawer in your bathroom do you find it stuffed with an assortment of hair brushes? Many women collect hair brushes because they are never sure what the best brush is for their hair type. Other women however, are on the opposite end of the spectrum. They may be holding on to a hair brush that they’ve had for years, but they’re not really sure why they have it or if it’s the right brush for their hair. Do either of these scenarios sound like you?

When it comes to choosing the right hair brush, it can be very overwhelming. Just head to any beauty supply store and check out the wall of hair brushes. The come in every size from large paddle brushes, to tiny back combing brushes that look almost like combs. Some have holes in them, while others are curved. Never mind the round brushes! They come in all different sizes, from only ½” around to an absolutely massive 6” inches in diameter. And when it comes to bristles there are natural boar bristle brushes, synthetic or plastic bobble heads. It can be almost impossible to know what brush to choose.

The first thing you need to do before you even head to the supply shop is to decide what you’re trying to achieve with your brush. Are you using it to style your hair? Or just to smooth it and achieve shine? Once you have the basic understanding of what you want to do, you will be able to make a more informed decision.

Paddle brushes- You can find paddle brushes with synthetic bristles, natural or a combination of both. These brushes are great for people with long hair who are trying to achieve shine and smoothness. They’re also especially nice for women with thick hair because the bristles will give the scalp a massage while it brushes. If you’re looking for volume however, this is not the brush for you.

Cushion brushes – These brushes are named because when you push on the bristles they give way like a cushion. If you have medium hair and you’re looking for a smooth style, these brushes are a good choice. They’re also especially good for fine or thinning hair because they offer the extra cushioning.

Styling brushes – These brushes are also called back combing brushes. They come in a variety of sizes but are very typically smaller with a slightly curved head. These brushes are perfect for shorter styles and are useful for styling specific styles because they are easier to handle.

Vent brushes – This type of brush is great for drying your hair because the large holes allow air to move freely through the brush, helping you to dry your hair. They are great for short style and add volume to all hair styles.

Round brushes – These brushes are available in all sizes. They are best used with your hair dryer to create the style you desire. The smaller the brush, the tighter the curl it will create. The larger brushes are generally used to add volume and create a smooth look. For extra styling help, look for thermal round brushes that use the heat from the hair dryer to help lock in the style.

Thermal brushes – These brushes work with your dryer because they lock in heat helping to style your hair quickly. Thermal brushes are available in round sizes or flat brushes. The round styles help to style your hair just as a brush that is not thermal, while a flat brush will act as an iron to create straight hair.

Use this simple guide to help you with your next hair brush decision so you can choose the best hair brush for the style you are looking to create. No longer will you need a drawer full of useless brushes.
