Avoiding Damage To Your Hair From Too Much Styling

April 16, 2009 by tracy · Leave a Comment

It is common to hear how daily styling can cause damage to your hair that will keep it from looking its best. Of course curling irons and flat irons are notorious for being especially harsh to your hair when used often. But you can use these hair styling tools on your hair without any fear at all if you take a few precautions to take care of your hair and protect it from the heat of these tools.

Try to avoid using your hair iron or curling iron every day, many women wash their hair daily, which strips it of moisture, and then styles everyday. Most women would be fine with washing their hair every other day and using their professional hair iron only when they need to remove the body for that straight hairstyle.
It is also very important to keep your hair well moisturized to protect it from the heat. Also use professional hair tools that are designed to lock in your natural moisture instead of stripping it out of your hair. A variable temperate setting is also extremely useful so that you can make sure you are using only enough heat to style and not so much you are damaging your hair.

The Advances In Modern Hair Straighteners

March 25, 2009 by tracy · Leave a Comment

Women today have hair styling so easy and yet many do not realize just how good they have it with the modern styling tools and products available to them. As recently as the 60’s women were using styling tools that were still as primitive as the first models created before the turn of the century. These early tools were more like medieval torture devices that caused significantly more damage to the hair with one use than our modern hair tools cause in their lifetime.

A great example is the method women have used over the years to remove the excess curl from their hair. In the past everything has been used from harsh chemicals that caused severe burns to the scalp when used or even clothing irons to smooth out the body in the hair. Neither method was very effective and both were very dangerous and damaging to the user.

The modern professional flat iron is made with some of the best material available such as tourmaline and titanium so that they are not only effective at straightening the hair but also gentle to the hair and the user in the process. These modern hair straighteners and styling tools are so much farther advanced than tools of the past women of today should be very happy that they do not have to suffer to style their hair.

The Need For Protein For Healthy Hair

March 23, 2009 by tracy · Leave a Comment

We all want our hair to look its best and many women spend lots of money to get the best hair styling products, shampoos, and hair styling tools to get that really great looking hair. Everyone knows that what we do to our hair and how we take care of it has a large impact on how good it appears and how healthy it is. Yet, there is something more than just what kind of hair flat irons you use, it is also what foods you eat. It is hard to believe that the food you eat can have a very large impact on the health of your hair but it is true. What goes into your mouth is what your body uses to grow and maintain those locks on your head so you need to eat what your body needs to have great looking hair.

Hair is made up of almost all protein so your body needs plenty of good quality lean protein in order to have healthy hair. Not getting enough will leave your hair thin causing it to have less body and even less shine. By eating plenty of protein your body can adequately grow plenty of hair that you can style to look absolutely gorgeous.

Avoiding Crimp Marks When Using A Hair Straightening Iron

January 28, 2009 by tracy · Leave a Comment

Sometimes hair straightening irons leave a bad impression with some women who feel that these hair styling tools are not all they are hyped to be. Really for most of these women the issue is not with the hair straightener but with how they are using it. Though these tools are really simple to use it is still easy to make some common mistakes and feel that the iron it to blame for the problem.

One complaint many women have is they end up with many horizontal crimp marks on their hair from the flat iron. The common problem here is the user knows they are supposed to slowly glide the iron down the length of their hair, but they end up actually going too slow. Moving too slowly results in the iron being in one spot too long creating these crimped marks that would not have been there had you moved the iron down the hair quick enough. Of course if the hair is not straightening that means that you are moving too quickly. It should be a nice slow glide that does not stay in one place for any period of time for best results.

Avoiding Too Much Heat To Your Hair In Winter

January 23, 2009 by tracy · Leave a Comment

Winter can be very tough on your hair since the outside air gets much dryer with the colder temperatures. This will rob your hair of its own personal natural oils, which help it look sleek and shiny therefore leaving it dried out and dull appearing. Using hair styling tools that do not have variable temperature settings can only add to the drying out of your hair that the winter weather is already causing.

Inexpensive hair tools do not have a way to control the temperature on you curling iron or hair straightening tool and this causes you to use more heat than necessary to get the job done especially if you have thin or fine hair. Most professional hair styling tools include a variable temperature setting that is easy to operate so you can dial in just the right amount for the job but not so much that you dry out your winter wary hair in the styling process. When combined with a excellent hair conditioner along with proper hair care such as never going outside with wet hair and despite the dryer than normal conditions you will still look your best right up until spring and beyond.

Avoiding Short Cuts When Using Your Hair Irons

January 11, 2009 by tracy · Leave a Comment

Some women take several short cuts during their busy day in order to get everything done they have to do. For some this includes skipping things in their morning routine to get ready that may actually damage their hair. Many do not realize that the damage to their hair from improper use of hair styling tools will actually keep them from looking their best.

Not all women wash their hair daily, and this is a good thing as washing too often will dry out your hair and can create a build up of shampoo that will remove the shine. Of course they do not hesitate using their hair iron every morning whether they have washed their hair or not. This can actually damage your hair as well since the heat from the hair straightening iron can sear that dirt and grease right into your locks.

Just as bad though is washing your hair and then using your hair iron to straighten out those locks before they are completely dry. The steam created from the water along with the heat can actually singe your hair and cause damage as well.

If you plan on straightening your hair one morning it is wise to wash your hair the night before and then use your ceramic flat iron in the morning to get those curls out.

Grab Some Hair Tools and Try Something Different.

January 9, 2009 by Elena · Leave a Comment

When you get ready in the morning, do you do the same old thing every day? Are you sick of the same hair style? We are creatures of habit and when something becomes a habit or a routine, it becomes all too easy to fall into a rut. And that is just as true for our hair styles than anything else in life. If you are used to wearing your naturally straight hair down, without doing much too it, you will likely do that everyday. Likewise, if you always pull your hair into a pony tail, it becomes all too easy to do that everyday.

Well, it’s time for a change. There is no reason that you have to do the same thing with your hair all the time. Just because you always wear your hair one way does not mean that you have to stay that way. Mix it up. Many women use the excuse that “It’s too hard to try something new.” Or, “I don’t have time in the morning to do anything different.” Those excuses don’t hold any water, because there are a lot of easy and quick ways to change things up. All you need are the right tools.

With a hair straightener, you can achieve a wide variety of new and interesting styles and it doesn’t have to take much time at all. For example, if you normally wear your hair straight, take your hair straightener and try flipping up the ends of your hair, or curling the ends under slightly to make an easy bob style. Just this one simple change, will give you a completely different look and it doesn’t take any longer than just straightening your hair would.

If you want to try something that offers a little more change, take your hair straightener and use it to create loose, waves and curls. This look is very easy to achieve and doesn’t take long at all to create a completely different look on days you want to change it up.

Of course if you have naturally curly hair, you can change it up by using a hair straightener with ceramic plates to straighten your hair. Ceramic plates are the best choice because they use far infrared heat to infuse your hair with moisture, locking in the moisture in the hair, so your hair doesn’t look frizzy or damaged. It’s quick and easy to straighten your hair if you have the right iron at your disposal.

Beautiful hair styles can also be created by using a mixture of curls and straight hair. Consider putting your hair in a half pony tail and using your hair straightener or curling iron to curl the hair that has been pulled up.

There are a lot of options available to you that don’t need to take a great deal of time. The best thing to do is to experiment and try out a number of different looks. After all, there is no reason your hair needs to look the same everyday. In fact, you may discover that you like it a lot better a different way.

Curling Irons Sure Have Changed!

January 8, 2009 by Elena · Leave a Comment

Probably one of the first hair styling tools you ever owned was a curling iron. In fact, if you went to high school in the early nineties, a curling iron was essential in order to create those sky high bangs that were so popular. Do you remember how you choose what curling iron you should use back then? Probably not, but I would bet that you didn’t choose your curling iron based on how good it would be for your hair. In fact, it hasn’t been until recently that hair styling tools have actually benefited hair. However, there are a few things that you should keep in mind when you are looking for a curling iron, because they have come along way since you first started using them.

If you are thinking about getting a curling iron, don’t make the mistake that they are only good for curling your bangs up to great heights. Curling irons are useful for so much more than that. If you have always wanted wavy, sexy curls, then a curling iron is the perfect tool for you. Or maybe it’s tight, spiral curls you’re looking for? A curling iron is also the tool of choice for you.

Be sure when you are looking for a curling iron to choose the barrel width that’s right for the style you want to achieve. Because curling irons come in a wide variety of barrel sizes, from ¾” up to 2” barrels. If you are looking for tight curls, choose the smaller curling iron barrel size. But if loose waves are your thing, you’ll want the larger barrel. It’s important to note that if you have short hair, you should not choose large barrel sizes, they are only useful on longer hair. Shorter hair does better with smaller barrel sizes as they are easier to negotiate on short hair. If you have medium length hair and want to have some versatility when you style, you may want to consider a 1” barrel size because they are the most versatile and you can create quite a bit of style with this size.

Another consideration when you are choosing a curling iron is the material of the barrel. Look for a ceramic curling iron because ceramic is an excellent material choice. Ceramic is known for conducting heat evenly and quickly so you do not need to worry about any hot spots developing on your iron which will burn your hair. Ceramic also smoothes your hair as it styles, so your hair will not look frizzy or over treated.

Other features to look for in a curling iron include ionic technology which actually locks in natural moisture and oils to make hair look healthier than before. Silver technology is also a great feature, because the silver kills bacteria and germs that may be in your hair or on your styling tool so that your hair can stay as healthy as possible.

Curling irons have come along way since your early styling days, so take the time to research a quality hair styling tool before you make the investment.
