Wrap Up Those Last Minute Gifts
December 18, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment
There’s only a week left to go before Christmas. Have you finished your shopping yet? In the frenzy of the holidays, it is so easy to forget one or two gifts, or think that you got something for that special someone, when really you forgot. Or maybe you’re one of those people who leaves all their shopping to the last minute. Whatever your shopping style is, if you find yourself in the situation of needing last minute Christmas gifts there is nothing better than giving the gift of style this holiday season by gifting quality hair styling tools. ![]()
There are so many choices when it comes to giving hair styling tools, and everywoman on your list will appreciate a quality hair styling tool. If you are stumped on what type of tool to buy, go with a hair straightener. A quality hair iron can be used for so much more than simply hair straightening. Yes, of course you will be able to create sexy, sleek styles, but you can also flip hair out or in, and even add glamorous curls. Yes. Curls with a hair iron.
A quality hair iron also acts like a hair treatment for hair. Instead of damaging hair, like cheaper hair straighteners, a quality iron that is made with ceramic plates and utilizes the power of tourmaline and far infrared heat will actually nourish the hair creating glossier, healthier looking hair than before. The tourmaline and far infrared heat infuses each hair, sealing in the natural oils and moisture to keep it looking healthy, while at the same time sealing the cuticle so that each hair lays flat on the head. So you can say good bye to those frizzy fly aways.
Another great choice for anyone on your gift list is a quality hair dryer. Because even if you have a hair dryer, everyone can use a high quality dryer that cuts their drying time in half and creates healthier hair. Who wouldn’t want that? Choose a hair dryer that uses ionic technology. Negative ions go deep into each hair to dry from the inside, out. This means that hair dries faster. Much faster. In fact, by using an ionic dryer, you can get your hair dry up to 60% faster. How’s that for a Christmas gift? Not only are you giving an awesome dryer, but you’re also giving the gift of more time in the morning. I’m sure you know someone on your list that could use an extra cup of coffee in the morning instead of drying her hair.
If you are stuck on what to buy that special someone on your gift list, take a good look at quality hair tools, because everyone likes to look good and if you can look good with healthier hair in the process, well that’s just an extra. So wrap up a little style this Christmas and give everyone on your last minute shopping list something that they can really use – all year long.
Hair Straightening Tips
December 11, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment
If you’re new to hair straightening, or even if you have been using your hair iron for awhile, it’s a good idea to brush up on a few basic skills. There are a few things that will help you make the most of your hair iron and keep your hair looking it’s best all of the time.
- When you’re straightening your hair it is crucial that you start with dry hair. Don’t try to save time by trying to straighten damp hair. Take the time to dry your hair with a quality hair dryer before you begin straightening. You will damage your hair if you try to use your hair iron on wet or damp hair, it may burn and you will strip it from essential moisture that is needed to keep it looking its best. Unless you have a wet to dry hair straightener, in which case it is fine to use on damp hair. But be sure what type of iron you have before you try this.
- Keep your hair straightener clean and in good repair. This sounds like a basic tip, however it is surprising how many people do not take the time to clean their hair straightener and store it properly. All that is required is to wipe down the plates of the straightener with a soft cloth that has been dampened with rubbing alcohol. If you do this every few days, or once a week, your hair straightener will stay clean and free from build up. Also, take the time to be sure that your cord is not pinched or tangled which can damage the power supply to the iron.
- When you are straightening your hair, work in sections. Don’t try to save time by doing large clumps of hair at a time. Section your hair working from the bottom to the top of your hair. Depending on how thick your hair is, you may find it easier to work in small sections. If you want to create tendrils, or curls with your iron, small sections are definitely the way to go. Use clips to keep the hair out of the way and tangle free.
- Use a straightening serum or thermal protector on your hair before straightening. This is a product that is designed to protect your hair from the heat of hair tools and it will help lock in moisture and seal in the natural oils that your hair needs to look its best. Even when you are using a high quality hair iron, it is beneficial to use a thermal protector on your hair.
- When you are straightening your hair, be sure that you don’t squeeze too tightly because this will pull and tear at your hair and with a high quality hair straightener, there is no need to push too hard, just a firm constant pressure will do.
So there they are, the best hair straightening tips to get your hair looking straight, sleek and sexy.
Put Some Thought into Choosing your Brush
December 8, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment
There is one hair tool that most people don’t give much thought at all which is very unfortunate since it is a very important tool, and one that is used every day, regardless of what style is trying to be achieved. That tool is the
hair brush. So how come it isn’t given any thought? What is it about the hair brush that people take for granted?
Well, all too many people simply pick up their hair brush at the local drug store, or Wal-Mart and don’t make their choice based on any important factors. Instead of looking at the important features, the decision may be based on price, or color instead of what really matters. So why would you put more thought into choosing a hair tool such as a hair straightener, and not give your brush the same thought and consideration?
There are a few things to consider when you are choosing a hair brush. And the first thing you need to do is to find a brush type that is right for your hair, because not every brush is the same.
A boar bristle brush is an excellent choice for women who have long, thick hair. These brushes naturally stimulate the scalp and redistribute the natural hair oils that are in the scalp throughout the ends of the hair. Also, these brushes do a great job of cleaning out any dust or debris that has built up in the hair. These brushes are perfect for African American hair and other thick, dense hair because the bristles can work their way into the hairs and brush them out perfectly.
You will also need to decide what style of brush you need. Do you want a flat, straightening brush? Or a rounded brush to help with styling? Thermal brushes are excellent for using with a hair dryer to help lock in the style you are trying to achieve. And the latest type of brush is the ionic brush which uses the power of negative ions to help eliminate frizz and create smooth beautiful hair every time it’s styled.
If you have thin or damaged hair, a cushioned brush is probably the best choice. Sometimes this type of brush is called a paddle brush, but the one distinguishing feature is that the bristles are in a rubber cushion that is easy on the hair when you’re brushing, perfect for those with thin hair.
Whatever brush you decide to try, just remember that you do not have to limit yourself to one type. In fact, brushes are so inexpensive that you can and should a variety of brushes for every styling need. Why not have a vent brush for drying your hair, an ionic brush for reducing the frizz and some rounded brushes when you are styling? Try out a few brushes to find what really works for you and your hair and remember to put the same thought into brush shopping that you would any other hair styling tool.
Simple Tips to Care for your Tools
November 27, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment
Let’s face it; quality hair tools are not cheap. When you purchase a quality hair straightener, curling iron or hair dryer, you are making an investment in yourself, your style and your hair. And you have to remember that despite the initial cost, purchasing a good tool will actually save you money in the long run because you won’t have to replace it as frequently and it will do the job right making your hair look great.
Yet, it surprises me when I see how some people treat their expensive hair tools. If you have an investment of any kind, you should take care of it properly and nurture it right? It’s shocking to me to see people through their hair irons in a drawer, pinching the electrical cords or wrapping the cord around the hair dryer before putting it away. These are just a few of the awful things I see done to quality hair tools.
If you are going to spend the money buying yourself some excellent hair tools that are not only effective in styling your hair, but will help it stay healthy and look its best, why wouldn’t you treat those tools well? Of course everyone will have a reason for mistreating their tools, but the biggest excuse I see is that people honestly don’t realize that they are harming their tools.
It’s not hard to take care of your hair tools so that they will last, and I have a few simple hints and tricks for you to make it even easier to care for your straighteners, curling irons and blow dryers.
* Do not wrap the cords around the tool. This is probably one of the most common things that people do. When they are cleaning up the bathroom or packing for a trip, they will wrap the cord around and around the iron or hair dryer. Don’t do this. It will change the shape of the cord and may even permanently affect the cord shape. It also can kink or bend the wires inside the cord. Also, if your tool is still hot when you put it away you could melt the cord.
Instead of wrapping the cords around the tool, control the excess cord by collecting it and using a Velcro wrap to tie it up. This will keep it neat and tidy and will not damage the cord itself.
* Take care of the cords. Besides bundling the cord up nicely, be very careful when it comes to other hazards for the cord. One of the biggest culprits for damaging electrical cords is drawers. When you have all your hair tools out on the cupboard, and drawers are opening and shutting, it’s all too easy to get a cord shut in the drawer. This can pinch and even sever the cord making your tool useless.
Also be careful not to get more than one cord wrapped up around each other. This is a safety hazard as well as a risk for creating knots in the cords of hair tools.
* Keep your tools clean. This may go without saying, but if you keep your hair tools clean they will last much longer and give you quality performance for years. All you need to do is give your curling irons or hair straighteners a quick wipe down with a damp cloth when they are cool to remove any build up. If you have a bigger build up, use a bit of rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth. Check out our guide for cleaning your hair straightener. For hair dryers, clean the lint trap at the back of the dryer to keep it free from lint and build up. It is not hard to keep your quality hair tools working and looking their best. With minimal effort, your investment in a quality hair straightener, hair dryer or curling iron will last for years giving you beautiful, healthy looking hair.
Travel in Style

Once you have your style mastered at home, you can wake up each morning and create your perfect style without even really thinking about it. But what will you do when it comes to traveling? Do you think you’ll be able to create your style when you’re on the road without a lot of effort? For many women, the answer is no. They need to be at home with of their hair iron and blow dryer
and everything at their finger tips. But just because you are traveling doesn’t mean that you cannot have beautiful hair, you just need to prepare yourself.
If you’re traveling on airplanes you must remember the latest safety rules. So you will not be able to take any gels, hairsprays or other styling liquids on the plane with you. If that’s a problem for you while you’re traveling, or you will be on some very long flights where you want to look your best, consider putting your hair in a braid, a stylish pony tail, or some other very simple and manageable style that will not need a lot of readjustment or care.
Once you arrive at your destination, your hair may experience some changes. That is because everywhere you go, the conditions will be different. There will be different temperatures, and humidity conditions to consider. For example, if you live on the dry prairies, and you travel to a tropical location, your hair will experience a big shift in humidity which means that if you have curly hair, it will have much more volume, and it may be harder for you to style initially, until you get used to the changes. Be prepared for these changes and don’t panic, you will be able to figure out how to adjust your styling techniques to account for these differences. You may even discover a cool new style for your hair.
Don’t forget that in each country, there are different voltages, which means that your hair tools may not work in other countries unless you have an adapter to help you use your tools. Sometimes the cost of these adapters can be quite high, you may want to consider buying tools in the country you are visiting if you are going to be there for awhile, or you can always readjust your style for the length of your visit.
Traveling can be a lot of fun, and a big adventure. If you feel it’s important to you and your happiness to have the exact same style everyday that you are on your holiday, then you will want to pay special attention to how you can travel with your hair styling tools safely and effectively. But another alternative would be to enjoy your holiday with a completely different style. Perhaps this means trying your hair curly while you are on holiday in a humid environment? Or maybe that means wearing your hair in braids or up styles every day?
Whatever way you decide to holiday, remember that great hair styles can happen anywhere in the world. So pack appropriately, and have fun.
Forget the Frizzies
November 21, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment
One of the biggest complaints when it comes to styling hair, is the over processed look that can often be created after hair is subjected to a great deal of styling and product overload. We’ve all seen it, a beautiful young girl walking down the street with over processed, frizzy damaged hair. In fact, you may have suffered from a bad case of the frizzies yourself. But do you have to put up with this damage just because you want to style your hair everyday? The answer is no.
It is not an automatic given that you need to trade the health of your hair for well styled hair. In fact, if you ask me, and many others, beautifully styled hair should look healthy, not over processed. So, how exactly do you achieve a balance of both? It’s really not very hard to ha
ve beautifully styled and healthy hair, but you do need to pay attention to a few things.
The first thing you must do is evaluate the condition of you hair right now. Is it already damaged and frizzy? Do you already have a problem? If you do, it’s okay. All is not lost. You simply need to work a bit harder at getting your hair back up to a healthy state. Spend some time deep conditioning your hair with hot oil treatments. Be sure that you are not brushing your hair when it’s wet or pulling through tangles that will rip your hair. You might want to consider getting a trim to take care of the damaged, dry ends.
One of the best investments that you can make for your hair and your overall style is purchasing quality hair tools. Quality hair tools will not only style your hair, they will improve the look of your hair as well. Choose a hair straightener with ceramic or titanium plates, and also look for the addition of tourmaline. Using tourmaline when you straighten your hair will infuse each hair with negative ions that actually close the cuticle, keeping your hair laying flat and looking smooth and beautiful. Not only will your hair look healthier, it will be healthier.
You can also inject your hair with negative ions by using a tourmaline powered blow dryer. Using a tourmaline hair dryer will actually dry your hair up to 70% faster than a regular hair dryer which means that you do not have to expose your hair to heat for long periods of time, which also protects your hair preventing the frizzies.
By choosing the right styling tools and spending a little bit of time treating your hair right, you do not have to sacrifice the health of your hair in order to style it. You can have both healthy and beautifully styled hair. So say good bye to the frizzies and hello to gorgeous healthy hair.
Create Celebrity Looks with Hair Extensions
November 19, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment
It’s happened to almost everyone at some point. You’re flipping through a magazine when you come across a picture of a celebrity sporting a beautiful, flowing mane of hair. Sure, her hair is gorgeous but didn’t you just see a picture of her last week with much shorter hair? Is there some sort of magical shampoo that you can use to increase hair growth that quickly? How do they do it?
That’s easy. Those instant gorgeous flowing locks are achieved by using hair extensions. You may think that hair extensions make your hair look fake or over processed, but those were the extensions of the past. Hair extensions now have been designed to look more like real hair than ever before. And they’re also easier than ever to put in, so you no longer need to be a celebrity to enjoy the instant luscious look of long hair overnight.
There are a few different types of hair extensions; one of the easiest new types is the loop system. With these extensions, you simply thread your hair through the loop, much as you would if you were threading a needle and then you pull gently on the loop until the ends come off and the ring is close to the head. You simply crimp down on the ring to lock the extension in place, and you have instant hair. Of course you repeat the process adding extensions until you have achieved the desired look.
If you want to create your look by yourself, forget about the hair extensions that you have to glue or sew in and look for some easier alternatives. Besides the easy loop extensions, another popular type of hair extensions that are easy to use are the clip in extensions. These extensions come in sections that are easy to apply using clips. The clip in styles are also easy to remove so if you want to change your look more frequently, this is a good option for you.
When it comes to hair extensions you can treat them just as you would treat your regular hair. That means that you don’t have to be afraid to wash your hair, or style it. Yes, because they are made of 100% human hair, you don’t have to be afraid to blow dry your hair, or use hair straighteners on them. It is recommended however that you use quality hair styling tools when you style any hair, especially extensions. You want your hair extensions to last a long time and continue to look good, so using hair straighteners and hair dryers that are made from ceramic components and utilize tourmaline is a good idea.
Long beautiful hair is no longer only available to the rich or celebrity stars. Everyone can enjoy the amazing difference that hair extensions create. And with a wide variety of colors available, you can customize your look to be the perfect one for you. Hair extensions are completely style able, so your stylist can even cut them to add layers around your face, or any other look that suits you. The options are endless when you have long hair to play with.
Find a Hair Dryer with Ceramic and Ionic Technology
November 14, 2008 by Elena · Leave a Comment
Unless you have had the same hair dryer for the last twenty years, you must know that some hair dryers seem to dry your hair more effectively than others. Have you ever been staying at a hotel or at a friend’s house and used another hair dryer? Of course you have. Everyone has a story about when they tried out another hair dryer that was so much better than the one they had at home. But some people seem to think that hair dryers are all the same. These are the people who believe that a hair dryer is simply a fan that pushes hot air at you.
There is so much more to a quality hair dryer than simply a heater and a fan. And yes, you should pay attention to what type of hair dryer you are using because some hair dryers will actually damage your hair. You may have heard a lot about ceramic technology or ionic technology when it comes to a hair dryer. So what is that exactly?
Ceramic technology does not mean that the hair dryer is manufactured out of ceramics. It does mean that ceramic has been used in the process of creating the tool, utilizing pure ceramic coils instead of copper coils. Manufacturers use ceramic technology because the heat that ceramic creates is always even which means that there are no hot spots and your hair dryer will heat up quickly and evenly giving you an effective dry.
Ceramic technology is also a moist heat which means that there will not be any unnecessary drying to your hair. Using a moist heat, your hair will still dry quickly but will not be subjected to the harsh, intense dry heat that will damage it and dry it out. Moist heat helps your hair retain it’s natural moisture.
Ionic technology is the latest in hair tools and the use of negative ions for hair styling is revolutionary. Ionic technology is when negative ions are created and emitted into the hair. Negative ions have a few different purposes. When it comes to a hair dryer, negative ions actually help dry the hair from the inside –out which means that the hair will dry faster instead of drying the outside of the hair first and then repeatedly blasting it with heat to get to the inside of the hair, which will cause damage. When the hair is dry from the inside – out it not only dries quicker but there is less heat exposure to the hair which means less damage overall.
The other advantage to ionic technology is that negative ions actually close the hair shaft, allowing the hair to lay flat on the head locking in the natural moisture and oils in the hair which means that the hair will be shiny and healthy. Negative ions actually make the hair look and feel healthier than ever before. Did you ever think using a hair dryer would help your hair look healthier? It will.
Instead of wishing over someone else’s effective hair dryer, take action and arm yourself with a hair dryer that utilizes ceramic and ionic technology and you will have the dryer that others envy.
Using Your Hair Dryer Properly
November 13, 2008 by tracy · Leave a Comment
It would seem a hair dryer is a simple enough hair styling tool that it would be hard to not use it correctly, but many women do simply because they do not know better. This incorrect usage of their dryer results in lose of moisture in their hair that results in that dry frizzy look that makes hair hard to style and unhealthy looking. Cheap hair dryers are never good for your hair, as they will only dry out your hair and leave it unhealthy. The best hair dryers will have variable temperature settings and even cool shot buttons and learning how to use these properly are key to getting the most from your dryer and getting the best styles.
