Many women do not realize that their very styling tools may be causing them to lose hair, which makes it harder to look their very best. Simple things like using the wrong brush can actually damage hair and cause hair to become unhealthy and fall out. Hair styling tools such as dryers and irons also are leading causes of hair loss and damage in women. Hair loss is one of those things which is easier to deal with before it happens so make an effort to always use professional hair care products on your hair so it will always be at its very best.

A beautiful look starts with a great haircut! You can purchase the best hair care products and even hair styling tools, but if your hairstyle is not a good one in the first place you will not look your best. Choosing a good style for you is no longer that difficult since with computer technology you can see how it will look on you before your hair is ever near the scissors. But it will be up to your stylist to make sure that style and your hair come together as they should. This starts with a quality pair of professional scissors that cut the hair smoothly and precisely.
Choosing The Best Shampoo

Many women choose their shampoo based primarily on smell, and for your hair this may not always be the best option for you. Many shampoos tend to have alcohol, which dries hair out, and when this is coupled with too much styling heat and too many washings it will augment the condition more. When buying your shampoo or other hair care products always read the label and avoid products that contain alcohol in the ingredients. Once you confirm the shampoo is alcohol free than decide if you like the scent or not and want to buy that particular brand.

Vitamins for Hair

I, as you already know have fine thin hair, and am anxiously awaiting till I can get hair extensions! Until then I must drudge forward with my never ending bad hair days. I have tried every single product you can think of, vitamins, shaving my head (if it grows faster on my legs then, well, why not?) not washing for longer periods of time, which is not easy for us with this kind of hair. The very next day it looks as though we must have gone a week without washing it! The only time I was completely amazed at my hair and how fast it grew was when I was pregnant. If I only had the patience for 10 children I would have beautiful LONG hair. But until this patience and day comes I drink water, take vitamins, use what I believe to be the right hair care products but still am left unsatisfied with my hair.
I am going to start a vitamin regimen of Vegetal Silica & Horsetail root this coming Monday. If anyone else would like to try this please stick to it for at least 3 months and keep me informed of any changes in your hair, skin nails, etc. Here are what I found to be the benefits of both:
· Dr. C. L. Kervran (France) found silica to have a direct relationship with the absorption of all minerals, especially calcium.
· Holt and Osborne (USA) demonstrated in their research the essential role silica has in maintaining supple skin.
· Drs. Kervran and Monceaux (France) found that with silica supplementation fragile nails became normal in a relatively short time period.
For those of you interested, take a photo of your hair and skin, take Vegetal Silica for the next 3 months and then please let me hear your comments. It would be nice to spread the word that yes, indeed you can change your hairs appearance simply by taking vitamins. If you can try to buy the brand flora, it is one of the best and contains the required daily intake. (90 Capsules - $16.59, 180 Capsules $ 30.49)
Till next time Good Luck,
Niki
Prepping Your Hair for Using a Flat Iron

One of the biggest keys to getting perfectly smooth, silky straight hair with your straightener is by prepping your hair for the styling. Hair that is blown dry effectively and treated with hair care products that help pamper and maintain your locks will be much easier to straighten as well as will look a whole lot better once you are through styling.
To effectively blow your dry so you can get the best results with your ceramic hair straightener, make sure the hair itself is free of excess moisture. Blotting with a towel will do the job fine, and this will help since the less time you spend actually blow-drying the less damage you can do to your hair which will result in less than optimal hair straightening. Now is a great time to apply a thermal protection product so that your hair can retain its own moisture levels throughout the blow-drying and hair straightening process. Just as you can get a ceramic iron with ionic technology you can also get a ceramic hair brush which will also help promote those negative ions which will help your hair be healthy and shiny. Use one of these along with your blow dryer to dry your hair in small sections until all the moisture from the shampooing is gone. Any water still in the hair will potentially damage it once you use your hair straightening iron to smooth it out.

When it comes to taking care of your hair many of us do not realize that for truly healthy hair we need to work from the inside out. Proper nutrition, vitamins, minerals and overall good health are essential to healthy hair growth.
When starting a new vitamin or mineral regimen it normally takes about 2-3 months to see results so patience is key. ALWAYS talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting any kind of new supplement so you can be prescribed the correct dosage.
Vitamins for Healthy Hair Include;
Vitamin A - Antioxidant, produces healthy sebum in the scalp. Found in foods such as milk, cheese, broccoli, eggs, carrots, peaches and apricots.
Vitamin C - Antioxidant, maintains healthy hair and skin. Found in foods such as tomatoes, pineapple, citrus fruits, kiwi, strawberries and dark green vegtables.
Vitamin E - Antioxidant, boosts scalp circulation. Found in foods such as raw seeds and nuts, leafy green vegetables, soybeans and dried beans.
Minerals for Healthy Hair Include;
Iron - Prevents hair loss. Found in foods such as fish, chicken, eggs, dried fruit, green vegetables and whole grains.
Silica - Strengthens hair and prevents hair loss. Found in foods such as green vegetables, soybeans and rice.
Calcium - Promotes healthy hair growth. Found in foods such as dairy, tofu, nuts and fish.
The above lists are not all of the vitamins and minerals which help promote healthy hair growth. Be sure to check out vitamins and minerals for healthy hair for more information and dosage recommendations.
Besides nutrition and supplements there are simple things you can do to help maintain healthy, beautiful hair.
- Avoid using heated styling tools everyday and be sure to use a heat protectant styling aid when you do to protect hair from heat damage.
- Use professional hair styling tools as they are designed to cause less damage on your hair.
- Do not brush your hair when it is wet, use a pick or wide tooth comb.
- Get a trim every 6-8 weeks
- Use hair care products recommended for your hair type.
- Avoid sleeping in hair accessories.
- Avoid styling products which contain alcohol (found in many hair gels) to avoid drying hair out.
- Use hair elastics that are designed not to pull and snag hair and avoid wearing them too tightly.
- Be kind to your hair! Give it a break from styling, coloring, perming and let it rest every now and then.
